An alignment sets the angles of all four wheels to your manufacturer's specification. Done right, the car tracks straight, the steering wheel sits centered, and your tires wear evenly. We measure every wheel with computer alignment equipment and adjust each one to spec.

Why modern cars need more than an adjustment

Every car sold new in the U.S. since the 2012 model year has electronic stability control, and most newer cars add lane-keeping or steering assist. Those systems rely on a steering angle sensor to know which way the wheels point. An alignment changes those angles, so the sensor has to learn the new straight-ahead. Most manufacturers call for a steering angle sensor recalibration, and sometimes other reset procedures, after every alignment.

Without it, the car is working from old numbers. The steering wheel can sit off-center, or a stability-control light can come on, even though the wheels themselves are set right.

That's why the Safety System Alignment is the one most cars get. It's the full alignment plus every recalibration and reset your manufacturer requires, done the way your manufacturer specifies.

Which one is yours

The Standard Alignment, at $190, is the adjustment alone — for vehicles whose manufacturer doesn't call for a recalibration or reset. The Safety System Alignment, at $240, fits most cars built since 2012. European vehicles and full-size trucks are $300, and Tesla and other electric vehicles are $320.

Not sure which your car needs? Pick your best guess when you schedule. We check your manufacturer's procedure and confirm the right one by text before any work begins.

If your manufacturer also calls for a camera or radar calibration after an alignment, we'll tell you before any work begins. That's quoted separately.
